Happy Birthday Mouse!

What do you do when you've been really busy but your daughter's birthday is coming up quickly...like...tomorrow? You make a quick watercolor background using Distress Inks (Mermaid Lagoon and Picked Raspberry) and emboss it using an embossing folder from We R Memory Keepers. I heat embossed the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from Clearly Besotted on some vellum.

I knew my daughter would just go 'Aaaahhhwwww that's so cute!' when she would see this mouse stamp from House Mouse, so although it's not a typical birthday image, I know she will love it. I colored it in using Copic markers and used a bit of the Mermaid Lagoon for the floor where the mouse stands.

This card is not my typical card, but in a strange way I like it. Haste can be a good thing to get out of your comfort zone :)

Another Happy Bird-day!

As I might have mentioned, I really like the 'I'm tweet on you' stamps from MFT. I decided to pair it with the cat from the 'I knead you' set, also from MFT, as he just looked perfect to hang from that branch!

I colored in the leaves and animals with my Copic markers, but decided to leave the branch itself white to keep the focus on the cat and the bird. I cut the shapes using a MFT STAX die and glued them on top of some patterned birthday themed paper and will send it off to a good friends of mine.

Hey Chick!

I love farm animals... And I know my friend, who's birthday is coming up shortly, loves chickens! She has three special chickens, called Easter Egg chickens. One lays blue eggs, one green eggs and one lays pink eggs. Isn't that amazing?

There is a lot of masking on this card, to be able to use the distress inks for the background. I mixed 'Shabby Shutters' as well as 'Squeezed Lemonade' to be able to get a mucky looking farm floor. After that I colored everything in with Copic markers, and gave the floor a little bit of 'texture' with a pencil. A bit of white embossing on a black background for the sentiment to finish it all off and the card was done!

I love cows... I might have to make another card using more of them :)
